REVIEW: What-Cha – Nepal First Flush 2014 White Tea

Tasting notes:

Dry leaf: The dry leaf largely consists of full-sized, withered green leaves and a few full leaves covered in white hair. It has a crispy, lemony aroma that is comparable to a first flush Darjeeling 

Infused tea: The tea cups out a golden-coloured liquor with a crispy aroma. It is a medium-bodied tea. The first infusion has a citrusy, crisp flavour. It has a slightly dry finish. Subsequent infusions expose more sweetness in the tea (comparable to tree fruit), and a softer, less dry finish

Infusion tips: Infuse this tea three to four minutes with 90C water. You will get three to four infusions

Conclusions: Since I like first flush Darjeelings,  I really enjoyed the aroma and flavours in this tea. I personally enjoyed the complexities that came out in the tea in the second and third infusions. While I would highly recommend this tea, I do think it is good to bear in mind that is quite different from Chinese white teas, such as silver needle or white peony

It was not until my early 20s, when I was seeking a lighter alternative to coffee, that I took tea drinking to a new level. I still remember my mother suggesting that I try putting milk in a cup of black tea (something that actually sounded a bit repulsive at the time, but I gave it a go).
